Detectives arrest Safety Harbor Middle School student for written threats to commit a mass shooting

On February 20, 2024, detectives from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Pinellas County Schools student for Written Threats to Kill or Conduct a Mass Shooting. 

Detectives say a 14-year-old Safety Harbor Middle School student sent a message to another student via Snapchat stating, “I’m shooting school up tomorrow.” 

Detectives made contact with the student, who admitted to sending the message but stated it was a joke. The teen  was arrested and charged with one count of Written Threats to Kill or Conduct a Mass Shooting.
