Like many parents, Christine Baron detested how invested her son was in video games.
“She treated it like it was the root of all my problems,” son Isaac Baron, 20, said. “If I had a problem anywhere, video games got taken away.”
In recent years, Christine Baron has done a 180, and does not plan on doing a 360. Well, unless that 360 is in Xbox form.
Earlier this month, she opened XP League Clearwater, which is an arena dedicated to children’s esports, short for electronic sports.
“Esports are multiplayer video games with a competitive element, often played with spectators,” Christine Baron said. “Our league includes games like Fortnite and Valorant, games that are played as teams … Think little league, soccer, but with games.”
