At its Monday night meeting, the Safety Harbor City Commission voted unanimously to set the date for the next Safety Harbor municipal elections for March 19.

City elections are normally held on the second Tuesday in March, but the move to the third Tuesday allows the city elections to be on the same day as the presidential preference primary, which saves the city thousands of dollars and saves voters from having to vote twice.

Qualifying dates for candidates will be from noon Jan. 5 through noon Jan. 12.

The seats of Commissioners Andy Steingold, Nancy Besore and Cliff Merz will be on the ballot, as will any possible changes to the city charter that are approved by City Commission. The city's Charter Review Committee will present proposed changes to Commission this fall.
