When officials announced their intentions to add a second story to the Safety Harbor Public Library at 101 Second St. N. almost a decade ago, the plan was to have the project completed by 2020. The library’s foundation began arranging funding for the $3 million construction project, while also seeking to raise another $500,000 to fill it with equipment, furniture and supplies.
Then the pandemic hit.
Last year, the project crept closer to reality, as the final permits were secured and funds were raised. And last week, the library’s director, Lisa Kothe, announced the foundation has met its goal to raise $500,000 for the second story gear.
