At its June 3 meeting, the Safety Harbor City Commission voted unanimously to have Interim City Manager Josh Stefancic send correspondence to Duke Energy about vegetation management as the utility continues to do major work throughout the city.
Public Works Director Renee Cooper updated Commission on Duke's work including nstallation of concrete poles along Bayshore Boulevard as part of a hardening project to better withstand high winds and strengthen the electric system and underground work near Marshall Street and La Forest at Green Springs.
Pinellas County had told the city of Duke's tree removals in the county to protect power lines, and Cooper told Commission that Safety Harbor does not issue blanket tree removal permits, so that is why Safety Harbor hasn't seen the same tree trimming.
