CROSSFIT SAFETY HARBOR

Kellie Eaton
I have lived in Florida since I was 9 years old. Growing up in Dunedin and spending most of my life in the area. I’ve always been athletic and started working out when I was a kid. I’m a lover of the outdoors, enjoying hiking, skiing, scuba diving, and training for and competing in triathlons and local races.

I have been a personal trainer for more than 15 years. Being a trainer is so much more than a job to me; it’s who I am, and what I do. Coaching people is my way of showing the world the benefits of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. My goal is to help my athletes see their own potential and strength, to become the person that makes them proud. I’m excited every day to work with so many awesome people.

I discovered CrossFit 1 1/2 years ago and it has changed my life in ways I never dreamed possible. I love being a part of a community and movement that has such a positive impact on people’s lives.

I grew up here in Safety Harbor and have lived most of my life in the area. Kellie and I have been married now for close to 5 years and we enjoy traveling, snow skiing, scuba diving and all sorts of outdoor fun.

I’ve been an avid fitness and strength training enthusiast most of my life. I started weight training when I was young as a way of building muscles on my skinny body. I worked out all through high school. I continued training once I joined the Army along with lots of good, hard P.T. I enjoy testing myself to see what I’m made of. For years I rode dirt bikes, then I transitioned to endurance events, sprint and Olympic-distance triathlons, half marathons, tough mudder and local 5k and 10k runs. One day my wife shared a video of this thing called CrossFit. Like many people, I was skeptical. I was concerned about old injuries that would keep me from doing some of the movements. So I initially dismissed it. About a year or so later I caught up with a friend who was very involved and who helped dismiss some of the CrossFit myths. My wife and I jumped in, and loved it from day one.

We knew right away we had to share CrossFit with as many people as we could.

I really enjoy training hard, and helping others better themselves. It’s great to see people doing things they never thought they could. I’ve learned that none of us really has any idea of what we are capable of. We never will if we don’t get out there and put ourselves to the test.

I grew up in Toledo Ohio and joined the army right after high school. While spending 5 years in the army, I felt like I got to see the world and experience new things, especially after spending some time in Afghanistan with the 173rd airborne as a team leader. After the military I decided cold weather wasn’t for me so off to Florida I went.

One thing I really did enjoy from the military is physical fitness. So while going to college to become a firefighter paramedic I bounced around to the typical gym chains. After working out in typical gyms for a few years I needed something new. A few friends of mine were trying out CrossFit with great results. All it took was one workout and I never looked back. After spending a little time doing the workouts and learning as much as I could from others I decided to take my CrossFit knowledge to the next level and become a level 1 coach. I have enjoyed working out with my new CrossFit family and competing in local CrossFit style competitions but my greatest gratification has come by seeing people I have helped train reach there goals. Whether it be a pull-up or just graduating to a thinner band I take great pride in helping my fellow cross fitters.

I am now a firefighter paramedic at Pinellas Suncoast fire rescue and a paramedic for the Tampa Bay Rays but I still look forward to getting into the gym everyday to train myself or coach my fellow CrossFitters.

Everyday at the box is a good day!

Rachel (“Rae”) Vitale
I have been involved with CrossFit for over 5 years. I initially joined a CrossFit affiliate with no athletic background at all. Immediately upon my journey I developed a passion for fitness in a competitive and technical environment. I’ve developed healthier lifestyle habits and genuinely enjoy helping others achieve the same results. I truly benefit from the challenge of learning a new skill (there is ALWAYS a new skill to learn), and have been able to do things with my body I would’ve never dreamed possible. CrossFit not only creates a stronger physical body, but the mental toughness that is developed is remarkable! I am a firm believer that no matter where you are in life or what your background is, there is a version of CrossFit that is for everyone!

Philosophy:  Everyone starts at the same place. It’s just a matter of when you begin that counts; there are no excuses; only hard work, dedication and consistency. Fitness is a lifestyle.
